Jessica Alba [Jessica Marie Alba] was bitten by the acting bug at the age of five, but it wasn't until she was twelve that she took her first acting class when her family settled in California, after several moves across the country, due to her father's Air Force career.
With some lessons under her young thespian belt, Jessica saw the realization of her dream when she was signed to an agency nine months later. And as luck would have it she landed a part in 1993 comedy Camp Nowhere, when the actress hired to play the part suddenly dropped out. Although nabbing a part in a feature film was a great start for her career, she was still not considered a hot ticket by Hollywood standards, so Jessica took a couple steps back when she turned her attention to commercial work.
Determined to succeed, Jessica soon branched out into the realm of series television, earning herself a recurring role in Nickelodeon's comedy series The Secret World of Alex Mack.
The Flipper series followed, and it was during this time that Jessica experienced firsthand just how deranged some fans can become, when after receiving numerous threatening calls, she was abducted in the middle of the night by a group of men, but was later found in the truck of a car, bound and gagged, but physcially unharmed.
After two seasons of Flipper, Alba made several films and TV appearances, including opposite Randy Quaid in P.U.N.K.S., and on Brooklyn South. In 1999 she appeared in two of that year's hottest movies, Never Been Kissed opposited Drew Barrymore, and the quirky comedy Idle Hands. With every role, the five-foot-seven beauty gets one step closer to being the next "hot ticket" in Hollywood. One thing's for sure, landing the lead of ass-kicking heroine, Max, in James Cameron's ultra cool sci-fi drama, Dark Angel, didn't hurt her chances any. Once the show was cancelled, Jessica continued getting lead roles in feature films like the live-graphic flick Sin City, based on Frank Miller's ultra dark comic series, and the treasure hunt adventure, Into The Blue.
