Jennifer Garner burst onto the Hollywood scene with a resounding "bang" playing ultra cool double agent, Sydney Bristow, in the hit TV series Alias.
Growing up with her two sisters, Melissa [older] and Susannah [younger] in Charleston, West Virginia, Jennifer's early aspirations of becoming a ballet dancer along with more creative pursuits, such as saxaphone and swimming, were born when she found herself unable to compete with her big sister's straight A average. It was during her college years that her attention turned to acting. "You couldn't drag me away from the drama department," she told Seventeen magazine in their March 2002 issue. With her mind and heart set on pursuing the thespian way, Jennifer went on to earn a theatre degree from Denison University in Ohio.
Named one of People Magazine's "Breakthrough Stars of 2001", Jennifer's plans to continue drama studies at Yale were interrupted when she landed her first acting gig in 1995 as an understudy in the Broadway play A Month In The Country. This was followed by her first TV role as Melissa Gilbert's daughter in the miniseries Zoya.
A few years later and a move to L.A. behind her, Jennifer landed a role on the TV series Felicity, where she met Scott Foley; saying "yes" to his marriage proposal in 2000 [they divorced in 2003]. The short-lived series Time of Your Life kept Jennifer in work along with the feature film comedy Dude, Where's My Car?, and the high-octane drama Pearl Harbor, playing the timid Lieutenant Sandra opposite Kate Beckinsale. Her stint on Alias followed, earning rave reviews, an extended fanbase and a Golden Globe® win for Best Actress. Without a doubt, Jennifer had entered the world of Super Stardom.
Jennifer lives in L.A. with her husband, actor Ben Affleck, and their daughter Violet Anne, born December 1, 2005.
